Subject: Your thoughts on Brock Lesnar & Goldberg in the WWE Mon Apr 05, 2010 5:49 pm
Hey guys, I'm here to talk about 2 former Professional Wrestlers who have not been in the WWE for the past 6 years:
Brock Lesnar & Bill Goldberg
Brock Lesnar was an Amateur Wrestler who won the Big 10 Championship and the NCAA Heavyweight Championship
Bill Goldberg on the other hand played for the Georgia Bulldogs and the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons
Goldberg also went to the WCW where he won the U.S. Heavyweight Championship against Raven & Sid Vicious, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Hulk Hogan and the WCW World Tag Team Championship w/Bret Hart
Brock Lesnar and Goldberg went to the WWE
Lesnar debut in the WWE in Canada, the night after Wrestlemania X8 when he destroyed Maven, Al Snow and Spike Dudley and his manager was Paul Heyman
He had success in the WWE winning the WWE Heavyweight Championship 3 times def. The Rock & Kurt Angle
In 2002 @ Summerslam, he def. The Rock to become the Youngest WWE Heavyweight Champion in History @ the age of 25, but his greatest rivalry was against 2 of the Top Dogs in the WWE @ that time:
Big Show & Kurt Angle
He also faced RVD @ King of the Ring 2002 and Vengeance 2002
Lesnar has def. the likes of Rikishi, Booker T., Ric Flair, Test, The Undertaker and even Mark Henry when Henry was a face and he also destroyed Hulk Hogan
Lesnar competed on SD! b/c Triple H didn't want to put over Brock Lesnar
Goldberg on the other hand debut in the WWE on RAW the night after Wrestlemania XIX when he speared The Rock after he told him, that he was next.
Goldberg went on to def. the likes on The Rock, Kane, Lance Storm, Chris Jericho, Steven Richards, 3 Minute Warning, Christian in a Steel Cage and Evolution's Randy Orton, Ric Flair and @ Unforgiven 2003, he def. Triple H to win the World Heavyweight Championship and he also shattered Triple H's Undefeated Winning Streak.
But in 2004, it was the end of the WWE careers of both of these men.
@ Wrestlemania XX in Madison Square Garden in New York City, both of these men had their last match against each other and Stone Cold was the Guest Referee and @ the end, Goldberg def. Lesnar, but then, Brock Lesnar flipped the bird in front of the fans and then got stunned by Stone Cold Steve Austin and then, Goldberg dranked a beer with Austin, and he, too got stunned by The Texas Rattlesnake.
Brock Lesnar left the WWE after 2 years and Goldberg left after only a year.
However, Brock Lesnar wrestled in Japan where he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship
and now, he's in the UFC and as for Goldberg, he is now hosting a show on SPIKE TV
But these days, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg have not been getting the respect that they desperately was looking for.
The fans claim that both Lesnar and Goldberg were all about the money.
Lesnar said when it comes to Pro Wrestling:
"I was an amateur wrestler for a long time and I wanted to pursue this, but the money wasn't there. Now, there's some good dough in it, and there's merchandising deals, sponsors. It's become a mainstream thing. I do it for the money; it's a business. But I enjoy it, too."
However, he also stated that he was in MMA and UFC for one thing:
Money
Goldberg on the other hand had said that when he was offered to come to TNA, he said that he wasn't going to TNA b/c during 2006, the roster was weak and that the payoffs were cheap and he said that he would not go to TNA unless if they can improve on the roster, move out of the Impact Zone and into bigger arenas and give him a good paycheck.
However, TNA President Dixie Carter fired back @ Goldberg with this statement during an interview with The Sun Newspaper:
"There is a lot more to being happy and successful than just a pay day."
"If that's where Mr Goldberg's happiness lies then he is missing the boat on a whole lot of other big issues."
But Goldberg still remains Close Friends with Fellow Wrestlers Bret Hart, STING, Ric Steiner, The Rock and Arn Anderson and he also remains tight w/Stone Cold Steve Austin
and also, there are fans that said that whenever somebody wrestles Brock Lesnar, he would hurt people (mainly Hardcore Holly) and he was extremely overrated and there were other fans who said that when Brock Lesnar wrestled Kurt Angle, he would botch too many moves and he also suffered a concussion during the match for doing a Shooting Star Press and Kurt Angle suffered a minor injury to his neck that would require surgery and others say that Angle would have to carry the match.
and also, Goldberg stated that the reason he went to the WWE was simple:
For the Kids, but he also stated that he wasn't happy with the way the WWE had conducted themselves, especially the way that men treated the women and when he was offered to work for Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff's upcoming Wrestling Promotional Tour, he turned them down:
Here's what he said to his Twitter:
"Zero plans to join Hogan's Tour.....The old man wants all the $ for himself. Plus, 3 reality shows on tap."
However, just recently, Goldberg has been in talks w/the WWE about negotiating a deal with the company.
and so, I ask you all this:
What are your thoughts on Brock Lesnar & Goldberg in the WWE?
Were Brock Lesnar and Goldberg Good Wrestlers or Overrated?
and also, were they for the fans or were they just about going out there making a quick buck?
That's the Question!
Please share your thoughts on all of this.
and now, here's are a couple of Video Clips:

Goldberg talks about leaving Professional Wrestling

Overall, I was a little disapointed with Goldberg's WWE run and I think that his very light schedule forced WWE into things with his on-screen charactor. For enstance, his WHC run was very short, but he did not wrestle many house shows. How can you sell house shows without the top face and WHC of company on the card?
I was and still am a huge Lesner fan and I wish that he was still in WWE.

Goldberg was someone who could have turned the WWE around at the time (as proven by his debut PPV match vs. The Rock doing the best buyrate in years for Backlash), but from the get-go he was poorly booked and treated like just another WWE main eventer. Not "Da Man" as Bischoff booked him in WCW.
