If New York Yankees make World Series, George Steinbrenner will be at Game 1

"The Yankees need another win to punch their ticket to the World Series, and a source close to the team said Wednesday that George Steinbrenner is planning to be in the Bronx Wednesday for Game1, should the Bombers get there.

Steinbrenner attended the home opener at the new Yankee Stadium on April 16, then made a pair of trips from his home in Tampa to watch the Yankees play the Rays at Tropicana Field on July 29 and Oct.4.

FLU? WHAT FLU? Derek Jeter has been under the weather for a few days, but as he does with every other injury issue, the shortstop wasn't interested in discussing it yesterday.

"I'm good," he said with a smile.

Jeter came down with flu-like symptoms on Sunday, having flown cross-country with the team late Saturday night. He clearly wasn't bothered by it on Monday, leading off Game 3 with a home run against Jered Weaver, although he went hitless in his other five at-bats that night.

"I noticed it on Monday, and he was pretty sick," Joe Girardi said. "He was still pretty sick (Tuesday). I'm hoping that he feels better, but it didn't seem to affect him Monday his first at-bat. That's just the type of player that Derek is. He's tough.""

If the Yankes make the World Series he should be there for every damn game. As an owner who pumps 200 million+ into a team, I don't see a reason for you not to show up when you're actually succeeding for the first time in several years.

I don't see the Angels stopping the Yankee hitting. They have been shelled so far and A Rod has been great so far. 5 Post season Homers already this year.

If the travel schedule wasn't so shit, the Angels would probably win the series. But because MLB puts in a shitload of travel days and had let the Yankees choose their schedule, the Yanks can use CC Sabathia at least 3 times in 1 series.

A Roid has been great so far and I doubt that the Angel would have an answer for the Yanks regardless.

A Rod is a guess hitter, so he can easily go into a slump (as he has in playoffs past). Over the course of a season, guess hitter's numbers average out and you don't see the consistency of an Albert Pujols. He seems like God right now because he's on a hot run in his hitting pattern, but there's no reason to believe that there isn't a foreseeable slump coming.

A Rod has been a new player this year, but even if he does go cold, they have 7 other guys that can hit. I will bet that the score board gets lit up when the Yanks play the Phillies though.

How has he been a new player?

He has been at peice more with his personal life. Now that his divorce is out of the way and the roids thing is out in the open, he seems to be having a lot more fun.

What was his excuse in 2005, 2006, and 2007? He wasn't having marital problems yet, nor was he busted for roids. Nothing was negatively impacting his performance back then, but somehow people consider him all clear of his bad post-season stats because he fixed some stuff that had nothing to do with his previous struggles?

He has finally started makin the 200 mil, what can I say? He also has Kate Hudson, so maybe he gets laid for ever RBI he gets and a BJ for Homers? I can't play baseball for shit, but I would find away for that prize.

So if he has 8 RBIs in a game...whoah...

Hopefully they have an off day after that. The Yanks are down by 4 runs right now. Even if the Angels win tonight, I think that they are still doomed.

And the "doomed" comes back to poor scheduling by MLB that made the Yankees the overwhelming favourites. If the schedule wasn't so in favour of the Yanks, they wouldn't be able to use a 3 man rotation and run CC out there a third time. You'd see Joba Chamberlain as their 4th starter going and his ERA was over 7.50 during the last 2 months of the season. The Angels would basically get a free win and this series would be much closer with a Pettite/Saunders Game 7 most likely and that seems like a toss-up to me. But like I said, MLB's scheduling has handicapped any team with more than 3 good starters which I find very unfair.

They did OK last night. The Yanks scored 6 runs in the top of the 7th, the Angels then scored 3 in the bottom of the 7th and then the Yankees left the bases loaded in the 9th.

Scosia should've never taken Lackey out of the game. He's their ace, he was only at about 100 pitches, and he was pitching a shutout. He just retired a lefty, so why bring in a lefty afterwards to face someone who can just turn around to bat right-handed? Then he takes out the lefty to bring in a righty when the next batter was left-handed. I love Scosia and think he's the best manager in all of baseball for a long time now, but I can't figure that inning out at all.

I could not believe that Yankees left 3 on to end the game. I thought for sure that they would win with the bases loaded. As well as the Yankees have scored runs, they have not been great with runners on base.

Fuentes will always scare the crap out of you before finishing games He gets a lot of saves, but he'll have a high ERA and most likely a high WHIP and this goes back to his days in Colorado, which was why Corpas was able to sneak in as the closer on many occassions.

Burnette got shelled in the begining too. If it goes to 7, the Yankees could be in real trouble. I think that have to finish this Saturday.

If it gets rained out tomorrow, along with the off-day that MLB so generously stuck in there, CC Sabathia could go in game 6 if the Yankees wanted him to. He'd still get his 3 days rest.

I agree, trust Petitte and have CC at full strength for the WS or have him in a game 7, if it goes 7.
