One Reason Why WWE Banned Head Chair Shots

As we previously noted, and was evident in the Vince McMahon vs. Bret Hart match at Wrestlemania, WWE has banned chair shots to the head. WWE did conduct a meeting with talent earlier this year to explain's WWE decision.


Recent studies have suggested that chair shots to the head are not the route cause of concussions in the industry, but in the event of potential lawsuits or an incident relating to a concussion were to become a problem, the media would obviously air footage of chair shots as its principal cause. WWE made the conscience decision to eliminate that option.


If you are curious what studies have revealed as the most common spot to cause concussions in wrestling? Believe it or not, the cross body from the top rope. The person catching will sometimes fail to protect their heads properly causing a serious blow. WWE realizes the media would never air footage of that because it's not "glamorous" enough for media frenzy.

Bret beat the hell out of Vince with a chair last night and he did not hit him in the head once. I am fine with the no chair shots to the head thing for whatever the reason is.

^^No it wasn't. Vince got the ass kickin he has had coming for the past 12 years. It was awesome to see Bret beating the hell out of McMahon. Then Vince taps to the Sharpshooter, loved it.

It was horrible. Cool for the first few minutes then it was like "Okay Bret, end it now." Then he kept going for a few more minutes. I was like "Fuck off this is BS, just put him in the sharpshooter already."

I don't know about you but I don't love watching a 60 year old man getting his ass kicked for 10 minutes straight.

I don't like old people getting beat up either.

The point of the match wasn't for Bret Hart and Vince McMahon to actually wrestle. Point was for Bret to deliver a beatdown he's been waiting to give to Vince for the past 12 years. The match could've been shortened by about 5 minutes but other than that, it pretty much served its purpose.

It was. But Know I think that Vince deserved to be screwed.
