| Subject: NXT Rookies Invade Raw!!! Raw Results 6/7/10 Tue Jun 08, 2010 12:38 am | |
| - Quote :
- This week's three-hour Viewer's Choice Monday Night RAW begins with SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long and RAW General Manager Bret Hart kick things off by introducing everyone to the show. Not long after the intro Randy Orton comes out with his arm in a sling and demands a match against Edge. Edge comes out and says 'fine' to a match, knowing that Orton is still injured. Teddy Long whisper's an idea to Bret Hart and as it turned out, the fans in the arena get to announce the kind of match Orton and Edge have. The three choices were a Debate, a sit-up contest, or a wrestling match - but Edge has to have his arm tied behind his back. Edge isn't pleased as the crowd instantly decide wrestling match and the match is set for later tonight.
After the break we come back to Big Show making his entrance. We then see that the WWE Universe were given three choices of match type for Big Show versus Jericho. The choices were; an over the top rope challenge, submission match or a bodyslam challenge. As it turns out the match is announced by Matt Striker as a bodyslam challenge!
Big Show vs. Chris Jericho BodySlam challenge Early in the match the Big Show is on top but Jericho comes back and Jericho focusses on Big Show's arm and the commentary team tell of how this could be a tactic not for Jericho to win, but for him to not lose. The match lasts less than five minutes though as Big Show quickly bodyslams Chris Jericho. Show then puts Jericho in a reverse chin-lock to which Jericho taps out. We then have Show throw Jericho over the top rope - basicly Big Show just won all three match-types in a row and put Chris Jericho to shame.
Winner: Show.
Next we see the Uso's, the DudeBuster's, and Khali/Hornswoggle give reasons as to why people should vote for them to have Tag Team Title shots.
We see an advert of 'High-school Memories' on WWE.com
The Hart Dynasty are in the ring and Matt Striker introduces the challenger's to the Tag Team Titles...
The Great Khali and Hornswoggle!
Tyson Kidd and DH Smith vs. The Great Khali and Hornswoggle
Tyson Kidd starts off against Khali and The Great Khali manhandles Kidd early on. Khali tagged Hornswoggle who goes up for a Tadpole Splash but misses. Tyson somehow gets a pin on Hornswoggle where meanwhile DH Smith dropkicks Khali from the ring apron.
Winners: The Hart Dynasty.
After another short match the Uso's once again attack The Hart Dynasty, but The Hart Dynasty get the better of them this time.
At ringside Jerry Lawler on commentary leaves his position - to which Michael Cole says "Where are you going, we're in the middle of a three-hour show!" Cole then reminds us of what happened with the news on SmackDown where Kane told us that he found his brother The UnderTaker in a vegetative state this past week. We then see the Kane segment from SmackDown.
"Up next RAW hosts The A-Team will be with us" - says Michael Cole.
Justin Roberts introduces the stars of this summers biggest blockbuster movie The A-Team! Brandon Cooper comes out alone and says that he doesn't know where his co-stars are. He says he hopes everyone has a good time tonight and he exits.
We see Jerry Lawler walking along backstage. He then gets taken aside by two of the other A-Team member's and they say they are there to help the King. King says that he's so out of sorts because he's lost his crown! The A-Team members (Rampage Jackson and Sharlto Copley) say they would help him find his crown. Jackson then says that he watches RAW all the time and he says he thinks he knows who's taken it. The two A-Team member's go to investigate and bump into The Bella Twins on the way who call them by their real name's and say how excited they are to meet them. Jackson and Copley though say that they have never heard of such names and make out that they are in their A-Team character's.
Next is a Viewer's Choice between Santino and Vladimir Kozlov. The choices are a match, an arm-wrestling contest or a dance-off. Matt Striker announces that it is to be a Dance-Off and he moderates as Santino and Kozlov 'compete.' The WWE Universe (in the arena) get to cheer who they want to win and as it turns out, Kozlov wins.
Next up we see the WWE Diva's backstage and it is announced by Cole that the WWE Universe can choose; a 6-on-6 Tag match, a Diva Battle Royal or a Champion vs. Champion match.
As we return from the commercials Jerry Lawler is back on commentary alongside Cole and it is announced by Lawler himself that this is to be a Diva's Battle Royal!
The Bella's vs. Tiffany vs. Michelle McCool vs. Layla vs. Alicia Fox vs. Jillian vs. Eve Torres vs. Kelly Kelly vs. Maryse vs. Gail Kim vs. Rosa Mendes
The match goes by pretty quick and the two Champions spend some time tustling. All the Diva's are picked off by one another and we come to a close with Maryse, Eve and Jillian. Maryse and Jillian team up on Eve and eliminate her. Jillian raises Maryse's hand and suggests that they are "Winner's together." Maryse though sees things differently and she elimiantes Jillian to win the match.
Winner: Maryse.
Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole spend some time talking about the events of the first hour on WWE's first ever Viewer's Choice RAW.
We see Sheamus walk along backstage. He comes across Kane who suggests Sheamus may have taken out his brother. Reference is made to Sheamus taking out Triple H and Sheamus says that if he did take out the Dead-Man then he wouldn't be shy to admit it. Kane says that he doesn't neccessarily believe Sheamus and that he hopes to see more of him soon. We then have a choice of who faces the Celtic Warrior; Kane, Mark Henry or Evan Bourne.
We are shown the CD of Toby Mac, the provider of official Fatal Four Way theme tune "Showstopper."
Sheamus makes his entrance and we see a replay of how John Cena picked Evan Bourne as his partner last week.
Sheamus vs...
with 88% of the votes it's Kane!
Kane begins the match on top and goes for a clotheline off the top rope early on, but Sheamus knocks him off and the Celtic Warrior spends some time on top. As we come back from the commercials Sheamus is well on top but Kane manages to get back into it. Kane then again goes for the flying clothesline and this time he hits it. Kane then picks Sheamus up and attempts a chokeslam, but Sheamus gets out of it. The two giants tustle and Kane finally grabs Sheamus by the throat: Chokeslam! Sheamus though falls out of the ring. The referee administer's the ten-count and Sheamus is up and can get in the ring, but chooses not to. The ref counts ten and Sheamus walks away up the ramp with Kane calling him a coward as he leaves.
Winner via count-out: Kane.
Our next choice is who the opponent of John Cena is going to be: Jack Swagger, Rey Mysterio or CM Punk?...
We get a reminder of that the WWE NXT winner is Wade Barrett in a video package. Barrett is then interviewed backstage by Savannah. Barrett says that in one weeks time something will be accomplished that has never been done in the entire history of the WWE.
In the locker room Ted DiBiase is conversing with Virgil only to be approached by Barracas and Murdoch who question whether they know anything concerning King's crown. Barracas has a bit of a face-off with Virgil and they are then interrupted by IRS - who is wearring King's crown! DiBiase, Virgil and IRS then put on gas masks and gas is sprayed in the locker room to which Barracas and Murdoch pass out!
Next up R-Truth comes out and he wants to know who the WWE Universe chose to be his partner here tonight against The Miz and his partner of Universe choice. Christian, MVP and John Morrison were the choices and with 54% John Morrison is voted R-Truth's partner. For Miz our choices are Dolph Ziggler, William Regal or Zack Ryder...
R-Truth and John Morrison vs. The Miz and Zack Ryder!
Truth starts things off against The Miz as the commentary team remind everyone that Truth beat The Miz for the United States Title a couple of weeks ago. We're then told that The Miz is to be a Pro once again on the upcoming NXT season. Truth is on top early, but Miz turns the tides and gets a near fall. He then does well to ground R-Truth, but only for a moment as Truth manages to make a Tag to John Morrison. Morrison does well against Miz to nail him with a knee to the face and then gets a near fall. Ryder and R-Truth then fight it out a little and the ref loses control. Miz uses Morrison's own momentum against him, gets Morrison groggy for a second as Morrison goes shoulder-first into the ring-post. Miz hits the Skull-crushing Finale on his former partner to pick up the win.
Winners: The Miz and Zack Ryder.
Backstage we see Edge and Bret Hart and Edge apparently has been questioning the match against Orton. Bret says that Edge may not want it to happen, but it's happening. Edge walks off and Kane comes into shot to interrogate the RAW General Manager about UnderTaker's vegetative state. Bret doesn't say anything as Kane says his piece about how Bret would have the motive to do such a thing given how Bret innitially returned for closure and he and Taker have a history. Kane then says that if he finds out that it was The Hitman who did that to his brother then he too would be in a vegetative state.
Edge makes his entrance and we get video clip reminders of how Orton RKO'd Edge last week and how Edge smashed a door into Orton's arm in return.
Edge vs. Randy Orton
One Arm tied match.
Orton already has his arm "tied" because it's in a sling due to his injured shoulder. The referee ties Edge's arm and the match is under way. Orton begins the match on top and floors Edge to do the 'Orton Stomp.' Edge then gets up to reverse an attempted RKO as the commentator's tell of how Orton has his stronger arm out of action. Edge manages to get himself out of the tie behind his back and then he attacks Randy Orton. The referee tries, but fails to get Edge to put the tie back on. The match is thrown out.
No Contest.
Edge continues the attack and then positions himself for a spear. Orton kicks it away and both competitor's end up at ringside where Edge attacks Randy Orton with a chair. Randy is on the mat and Edge famously conchairto's Orton's shoulder/arm between the mat and the solid steel. The fans boo as Egde leaves.
Lawler and Cole again go over the evening's highlights so far. They focus on the Diva's Battle Royal. We're then reminded of the options of John Cena's opponent tonight; Swagger, Mysterio or CM Punk?
We are taken to replays of what just happened between Edge and Orton. Backstage we then have John Cena talking to Evan Bourne and Boune thanks Cena for giving him that chance last week. Cena then thanks Bourne and says that he really showed how tough he was last week. Bourne exits the scene and Savannah then comes in to interview Cena on his thoughts about his possible opponents tonight. Cena says that he trusts in the WWE Universe to choose the opponent they see fit, he's just happy that he's definately performing here tonight.
We then have a segment where 'Mean' Gene Okurland is interviewing The A-Team's Murdoch. Murdoch is still groggy from the gas earlier on. Gene goes on to insult WWE's current top interviewer Josh Mathews - who is standing behind him the whole time.
We then have Drew McIntyre make his entrance. Teddy Long the SmackDown GM is backstage and he gives the WWE Universe their options for McIntyre's opponent; Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust or a Mystery opponent... (which by his shadow we can see is probably Matt Hardy).
After the break we have Matt Striker announce that at 88% Drew's opponent here tonight is the Mystery man...
Drew McIntyre vs. Matt Hardy!
Drew gets on the mic and says that this match isn't happening because Matt Hardy is suspended. Teddy Long comes out and says that Hardy is suspended from SmackDown, not from RAW, so the match is on! Matt then pummels Drew and the bell rings with the two competitor's to instantly grapple on the outside. Drew eventually gets back in the ring and gets some momentum but Matt hits the Twist of Fate! One, Two, Three!
Winner: Matt Hardy!
After another fast spirited match from Monday Night RAW Matt Hardy continues his attack on Drew after the match. Drew scrambles away as Hardy throws the ref to the mat.
Backstage we see Barracas tied up and sat on a chair. DiBiase, Virgil and IRS are around him and they tell Barracas that they are heading to the ring.
After the break, in the ring we see that B.A. from the A-Team is handcuffed and manhandled by Virgil and IRS. DiBiase says that even he has a price and he got paid well to serve Barracas on a silver platter. It turns out that the person who put this together is 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper! Piper comes out and speaks to Barracas as if he's Mr T! Piper says that he can't believe that The A-Team have a movie out and then says that he's going to beat the mowhawk off the new Mr T! Music hits and on what looks like a golf cart, out come Dusty Rhodes, Gene Okerlund and Murdoch! Barracas then breaks out of the handcuffs and ends up hitting a spinbuster on Ted DiBiase jr! Murdoch, Barracas and Rhodes clear the ring and 'Mean' Gene holds the mic as Dusty and co plug the A-Team movie.
Another reminder of the voting of John Cena's opponent tonight.
Backstage Josh Mathews interviews Cena's possible opponents asking why these wrestler's feel they should be facing the WWE Champion here tonight. Rey says because SmackDown's top dog would get to face RAW's top dog. Swagger says because it would be Champion versus Champion. Punk says that it should be him who faces Cena because once he beats him, Cena shall join the Straight-Edge Society!
John Cena makes his entrance and Matt Striker introduces who the WWE Universe voted for as his opponent tonight...
John Cena vs. CM Punk w/ Serena and Luke Gallows
Cena and Punk lock up and Punk backs off early on. The fans are various on John Cena. The majority of them gave him a huge cheer during his entrance, but Miami then gave him a hard time yelling "you can't wrestle." Punk and Cena circle each other a lot and although Cena was on top early, Punk does well to get two early near falls on the WWE Champion. Punk slows the pace down with a submission, but Cena gets out of it to attempt an STF, but Punk is too close to the ropes. Cena tries to get momentum, but Luke Gallows trips Cena as Cena runs toward the ropes and we go to a commercial break.
When we return we see that Punk has Cena in a headlock. Cena though tries to put on an Attitude Adjustment. Punk gets out of it and the match continues. Again the fans are split, some boo and some cheer as Cena gets momentum, floors Punk and performs the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Out on the ramp comes NXT winner Wade Barrett. He and Cena eye each other whereas at ringside through the crowd come the all the runners up from the NXT series - but they attack Punk and the SES. Barrett makes his way to the ring and he gives a nod and the NXT guys all get in the ring to attack John Cena! Justin Gabriel, Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett - all the NXT guys then do a number on everybody. They take the Champion out, drop to ringside to attack Matt Striker, Lawler and Cole. Even Justin Roberts got floored and then they begin dismantling the ring. The fans are stifled as even the ring-ropes have come off their hinges and we have no commentary as we witness the NXT (all wearring 'N' yellow and black armbands) guys continue their attack on CM Punk and mainly John Cena. Wade Barrett does his signature move, Justin Gabriel does his 450 splash and eventually after what's been a maulling of the entire RAW 'set' as well as the Champ, the NXT guys finally leave. We are left to see the wreckage from this car crash. Medics, doctor's and security come out to help Cena, the ringside crew and what's left of the referee. We're then shown fans and their reactions and close-up shots of the carnage at ringside. The WWE Champion is put on a stretcher and in a neck brace.
The first segment with Bret, Teddy, Orton, and Edge was pretty good, but the first hour went to hell quickly after that. Body Slam match? Swaggle and Kahli as a tag team? Someone has stolen King's Crown? Diva Battle Royal? Santino vs. Kazlov in a Dance Off? The second hour was much better. Kane vs. Sheamus was a solid match and they did more to further the Orton/Edge feud. People always say that WWE is always doing the samething and they never do anything new. Well, the way Raw ended was completely new and I don't think anyone could have seen that coming.

| Thought it was a very cool ending to RAW. Surprised to see all NXT guys sticking together but I think it's actually a smart move by putting together perhaps some stable or maybe alliances, depending on who ends up where.
You can bet we'll hear a lot about of Michael Cole whining on NXT tomorrow night.

| what a great end to Raw. Honestly, Raw was decent at best and some moments were terrible this week but the ending may have made this the best Raw this year.
It just shows us fans that WWE can still be great as they have been in the past few months and it had a very attitude era way about it.
The only problem I had was Michael Tarver ... Get the fuck out of Danielson's way

| Tarver sucks. You are right, most of Raw was very average, but the end was fantastic and it leaves all kinds of unanswered questions like How did Cole get out of getting his ass kicked. Everyone at ring side, including the ring annoucer got a beat down, but not Cole. Are the NXT Rookies responsible for what happened to Taker? Is Mr. McMahon the man behind the attack on Raw? Is this McMahon's way of screwing with Raw GM Bret Hart? All kinds of great stuff can come out of what happened on Raw. | |
