It's a little late...but thoughts? Predictions for awards?
I've got Lesnar beating Carwin via lunchboxes to the face. Akiyama will probably get past Leben via submission, but Leben definitely has the power and chin to knock out Sexy. Bonnar/Polish Experiment II should be fun from what we saw in the first one. I see Soszynski taking the rematch. Sotiropoulos/Pellegrino should be really fun to watch them on the ground. George is a beast on the ground, but Batman is no slouch himself and he probably won't get caught in as many submission attemps as some George's other opponents.
Fight of the night: Bonnar/Soszynski Knockout of the night: Lesnar Submission of the night: Sexy

| I think George Sotiropoulos will school Kurt Pellegrino and keep moving up the LW ladder.
Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Stephan Bonnar- If Sosznski is the same guy I am thinking of, he was on TUF and his go to move is the Kamora. Soszynski wins via submition and a possibe sub of the night. Chris Lytle vs. Matt Brown- Lytle likes to bang, so it should be fun to watch. Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Chris Leben- I am going with the upset, Leben with a KO. I think Leben takes advantage of this chance to be in a showcase match. Brock Lesnar (c) vs Shane Carwin (ic)- I am picking Lesner, I will be cheering for Lesner, but I would not be surprised if he goes down. I am concerned that Lesner has not faught in nearly a year and Carwin has vicious power in both hands.
KO of the Night- Lesner Sub of the night- Soszynski Fight of the Night- Leben vs. Akiyama

| So first prelim fight between Petruzelli and Romero, Petruzelli looked really good in the first round. He hurt Romero quite a few times, but just didn't have the gas to finish him off. Those 2 handed hammer fists were fucking monster.
Second prelim fight between Shaub and The Crowbar (since I know I'll spell his name wrong if I tried...), despite Shaub's stand-up and power, I was not impressed by his chin on TUF and expected The Crowbar to KO him. Turns out he didn't even really get hit and The Crowbar was the one to get rocked hard.

- MAIN CARD
Champ Brock Lesnar def. interim champ Shane Carwin via submission (arm-triangle choke) - Round 2, 2:19 (becomes unified champ) Chris Leben def. via (triangle choke) - Round 3, 4:40 Chris Lytle def. Matt Brown via submission (armbar) - Round 2, 2:02 Stephan Bonnar def. Krzysztof Soszynski via TKO (strikes) - Round 2, 3:08 George Sotiropoulos def. Kurt Pellegrino via decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) PRELIMINARY CARD
Brendan Schuab def. Chris Tuchscherer via TKO (punches) - Round 1, 1:07 Ricardo Romero def. Seth Petruzelli via submission (armbar) - Round 2, 3:05 Kendall Grove def. Goran Reljic via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28) Both Spike prelim fights were very intertaining. Schuab's quick KO was impressive and so was Romero's arm bar. Sotiropoulos did exactly what I thought he would do. He barely made it out of the 3rd though. He was caught with a knee at the very last sec and time ran out on Pellegrino. Bonnar went out and put it on Sosyzinski. Both guys started to bang and Bonnar put him down. Bonnar needed a win and he got one, over a very tough guy. Lytle threw down his second straight sub win. I was very impressed with his ground game. Leben and Sexyma threw down in what I thought should be fight of the night. Both guys came out to win, it was a back and forth fight, and Leben finished with a sub. I was shocked to see Leben be the one to end up doing the best on the ground, in this fight. Leben challenged Wandy in the post fight and that is a fight I would love to see. Lenser suvived a vicious ground and pound. He took a huge shot that put him down and then Carwin started bombing away for like a minute straight. I could not beleive Brock survived that and the fight went to the 2nd round. Carwin was clearly gassed at the start and Lesner took him down rather easily. He then passed his gaurd very easily, hooked on the head and arm choke, turned away from Carwin and locked the hold on tight. Carwin had to choice but to tap. If there were any question about Lesner's chin, he answered them in this fight. Lesner is still evolving as a fighter and he becomes more and more dangerous. He finally met a guy he could not over power and he used tech to make him tap. I thought this was a great UFC from start to finish, and I think Cain is questioning whether he truly wants a piece of Lesner. Lesner is going to kick his ass.

| Sotiropoulos/Pellegrino
What I liked most about Sotiropoulos in the first round was his head movement. He did a great job weaving in and out and landing those left hooks. In the second, George got Batman on the ground again and did a great job controlling him, especially during all those scrambles, but as I mentioned earlier, George won't be able to keep throwing all these submission attempts against Batman like he did in his last couple fights. Great finish to the fight for Kurt and if he maybe had another 10 seconds or so he may have TKOed George, but he didn't really pressure George early enough in the round. Another win for George and maybe a fight with Evan Dunham for the #2 contender spot? Penn/Edgar winner vs Maynard/Florian winner, then that winner takes on winner of George/Dunham seems like a logical way to go.
Soszynski/Bonnar After the first fight, I didn't expect anything less from these 2. This was exactly the kind of fight I expected when I chose them for fight of the night. Great combos by both guys, both guys were rocked over and over again, recovering time and time again. I thought the fight would've been stopped a little earlier, but I guess it wasn't because Bonnar's punches weren't really landing that hard, so they let it go on a little longer.
Lytle/Brown Good first round from both fighters, showcasing a little bit of everything. Lytle did a great job of staying alive during that D'arce choke attempt and with Steve Mazzagatti reffing, I was definitely worried about an early stoppage. Lytle in the second round showed a great ground game and threw the submission on Brown this time, which was submission of the night worthy.
Akiyama/Leben Awww man, what a battle. After watching this, my prediction of Soszynski/bonnar fight of the night might be in jeopardy. Another great striking contest with Leben probably getting a bit of an edge in the striking. However, Sexyama really got all the judo throws and takedowns, so I believe that Sexy won the fight overall. I'm a little surprised Sexy didn't go for the submissions that I've heard he's capable of and I'm a little surprised Leben was the guy who got the submission, but it was definitely a good fight by both guys. Hoping for 2 fight of the night awards.
Lesnar/Carwin First round...wow...WOW. Brock got fuckin rocked over and over again, so I guess this fight answered the question about what Brock's chin is like. He took a LOT of shots on the ground to a point where I though Rosenthal would've stopped the fight, but good call on his part to let Brock continue and eventually survive the round and win the fight. Who would've guessed it, Brock Lesnar winning by submission...how this man has evolved into a true MMA fighter. Undisputed HW champion indeed. Carwin needs to work on his gas tank though, he looked bad after the first round. Though that wink to start off the second round made me lol.
While I'm sure his display against Carwin opened some eyes, especially Cain's, I'm sure Cain will still welcome the opportunity. If anything, he'll probably just look to take Lesnar down and control him on the ground as opposed to getting him down and just throwing bombs in hopes of finishing Lesnar.

| You want to know a crazy ass stat for Lesner vs. Carwin? Power Strikes: Lesner 2 Carwin 78. I was really worried that the ref was going to stop the fight, even though Lesner was protecting himself fairly well. I think the refs did a great job all night long. Brock Lesner+submission=bad man on the planet. Carwin is probably the only human alive that can over power Brock and he could not stop Brock. Lesner vs. Cain=Cain's worst nightmare.
For a long time, I have been a Leben hater, but I have turned the corner on Leben. Taking the fight with 2 weeks notice and then coming out with a submission? He made me a beleiver last night. I was actually cheering for Leben.

| I wouldn't go as far as saying I'm cheering for Leben, but I will say I respect him more as a fighter. | |

| I was also cheering for him because I took a gamble on him in the bookie section. | |
