Vitor Belfort Declares He Wants To Fight For The Championship Next

UFC Middleweight, Vitor Belfort had made his claim known that he wants to fight for the UFC Middleweight championship next time out. Belfort said he wants to fight the winner of the upcoming Anderson Silva vs.Chael Sonnen Middleweight title fight at UFC 117 on August 7.

Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Belfort said:

“For now I do not know anything. I can not say anything because I do not know. I want to fight the winner of that fight, I fight for the belt. Now we’ll wait to see what will be.”

Belfort gave his thoughts on what will happen at UFC 117, saying:

“If the fight is standing, Anderson won the shot. If it goes to the floor, Anderson also has a strong game on the ground. The Sonnen is a very good guy, he will try to impose that beat him to tire Anderson, so we’ll see. The thing is to wait and see.”

I want to see Belfort get a title shot because Silva has fought 2 grapplers in a row and they have not challenge him at all. In 2 fights, they both had a control position for 1 minute or less. I think that the Sonnen fight is going to be exactly the samething and, even if Sonnen gets on top, he will still lose. Silva can grapple, he has just refused to do so.
