Gail Kim Gets Stripped; Terri Runnels-MMA

Dory Funk put out a press releasing saying that Gail Kim has been stripped of her Funking Conservatory Women's Championship. Gail Kim defeated "The Claw," Claudia Reiff to capture the title on Sunday, March 23, 2008. The press release reads: "Gail Kim was the last to hold the Funking Conservatory Women's Championship and now Gail Kim's commitments to future endeavors have resulted in her relinquishing her title and belt to the Funking Conservatory Board of Directors." Instead, reigning TNA Women's Knockout Champion Awesome Kong will be coming to the Funking Conservatory's !BANG! TV taping this Sunday to face "The Claw," Claudia Reiff. The press release also notes that if Reiff is able to gain a victory over Kong, "The Claw" could make a strong case for ranking #1 in next year's Pro Wrestling Illustrated 'PWI Female 50' rankings. Former WCW Valet and Former WWE Diva Terri Runnels, who's a big fan of MMA, covered the EliteXC event held a few weeks ago for The Fight Network. She attended the event with former WWE star Andrew "Test" Martin.

Well here's the Update!:

A reporter for ProWrestling.com reported earlier that Gail Kim was stripped of her Funking Conservatory Women's Championship. The report was unfounded and has since been removed from the site. I spoke with Dory earlier today and he cleared up that Gail relinquished the title and it is up this Sunday, October 26th when Claudia the Claw Reiff takes on Awesome Kong.

Dory Funk issued the following statement to ProWrestling.com:

Dory Funk Jr. has never, ever, stripped any one of a title. Gail is a class act in any one's book at any time, if professionally she had been able to work our show she would have. We are a training and marketing company with the finest ability to broadcast and promote our talent and Gail generously gave of her time to give something back to the up and coming talent that we have become so proud of. The title is on the line this weekend between Claudia "the Claw" Reiff vs Awesome Kong (TNA Champion)

We are so thankful for the time Gail Kim contributed to our programs and we would not strip anything away from Gail, Gail relinquished the title and it up this Sunday Oct 26.

Yea. She should have stayed in TNA because their women division is a lot better.
