| English Super League club Wigan have confirmed the signing of former Sydney Roosters winger Amos Roberts on a four-year contract.
The Roosters released Roberts, 28, from the final year of his contract at the end of last season.
He flew into the UK last week before joining the rest of the Wigan squad on their warm-weather training trip in Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands.
Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan said the club had planned to sign Roberts for 2010, but his early release from the Roosters and the opening of a spot in the club's overseas quota meant they could bring him in earlier.
"He is an exciting player with speed to burn and has a great try-scoring record," Lenagan said.
"Amos is a superb addition to our playing roster."
Wigan were unable to officially sign Roberts until former Newcastle centre George Carmont's application for a Samoan passport was approved, which exempts him from the club's overseas quota and makes way for the Australian.
Roberts scored 106 tries in 179 NRL games with the Roosters, Penrith and St George-Illawarra. He represented the Country Origin side four times.
Wigan head coach Brian Noble said: "Amos is a quality player with plenty of experience from his nine years in the NRL.
"He has settled in quickly in his first few days with us and he is very much looking forward to playing in the English Super League."
Roberts is recovering from a hand operation and will not be fit until mid-February.
He will miss Wigan's remaining pre-season friendlies against Leigh and Huddersfield, as well as their opening Super League game against Wakefield on February 8.
