Ovie on Game 6: 'It's all about us'
Saturday, 04.25.2009 / 1:50 PM / 2009 Playoffs Conference Quarterfinals
By Dan Rosen - NHL.com Staff Writer

ARLINGTON, Va. -- After seeing firsthand on Friday night what his team is capable of, Alex Ovechkin feels even more certain in his opinion that Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist is the only reason Washington hasn't already advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinal.

"If Lundqvist doesn't play well, they're in big trouble," Ovechkin said Saturday at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex. "It's probably 90 percent of their team is Lundqvist right now."

That Lundqvist, at least according to Ovechkin, has been good enough to give his team a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal round series doesn't matter to the Capitals super sniper anymore.

After talking about him a lot through the first nine days of this series, Ovechkin didn't have to heap praise on “King Henrik” Saturday, not after the Caps scored four goals on only 14 shots against him Friday night.

"It's all about us," Ovechkin said. "We're now a desperate team. We're losing. We don't have lots of opportunities to make some mistakes. You have to be all the time great. You have to be all the time 100 percent. We're still losing and (Sunday) is probably the biggest game in our year."

While some of his teammates agree that momentum has swung to the Caps after their whitewashing of Lundqvist and the Rangers Friday night, Ovechkin isn't buying it because 14 hours after the final buzzer he was trying to forget all about it.

"It's not momentum, it's only one game," Ovechkin said. "And, it was (Friday) night. Right now we're sitting here and thinking about (Sunday's) game. We can't talk all the time about how we beat them (Friday) night. It’s history."

As Ovechkin sees it, there is one problem.

He doesn't like afternoon games, and the Caps and Rangers will play at 2 o'clock Sunday.

"I feel kind of sleepy," Ovechkin said as to why he doesn't like afternoon games. "You don't have lots of time to wake up and do what you normally do before games at 7 p.m. It's TV. It's money."

Provided he can summon the energy - you really think he won't? - Ovechkin likes the Capitals chances of forcing a Game 7 back at Verizon Center.

They just can't let Lundqvist be the difference.

"We have to just do the same job," Ovechkin said. "We need to get the puck in on him, make some traffic and make some rebounds."
