Devils' Salvador out for Game 7
Tuesday, 04.28.2009 / 1:58 PM / 2009 Playoffs Conference Quarterfinals
By Brian Compton - NHL.com Staff Writer

NEWARK -- Andy Greene may not have played in the first four games of this best-of-seven series, but he's going to end up being in the final three.

The New Jersey Devils' defenseman will be in the lineup on Tuesday night for Game 7 against the Carolina Hurricanes at the Prudential Center, it was announced following the morning skate.
Bryce Salvador, who suffered a lower-body injury in Game 4, skated on Tuesday morning but will not crack New Jersey's lineup.

"It's disappointing, but I'm getting closer," Salvador said. "It's definitely not 100 percent, so it's one of those things where you don't want to be in a situation where you hurt yourself. It's unfortunate, but what do you do? You've got to stay positive. After we wrap this series up, it'll be a lot better."

Devils coach Brent Sutter, though, made it sound as if Greene would have been playing, anyway. Greene set up New Jersey's lone goal in its 1-0 victory and Game 5 and logged more than 16 minutes in the 4-0 loss at Carolina on Sunday.

"I don't want to change the makeup of our six 'D' ... that's what it comes down to," Sutter said. "Greenie's come in and has played very well the last two games. He was arguably probably our best defenseman on the ice (in Game 6). The other five guys have been stalwarts back there all season. There's no reason to change the makeup. I know we got Niclas (Havelid) at the trade deadline, but he's had a good playoff here for us, too."

Greene, 26, appeared in 49 games during the regular season for the Devils, posting 2 goals, 7 assists and a plus-3 rating. On Tuesday night, he'll play in one of the biggest games of his life.

"I'm looking forward to it," he said. "I'm just trying to keep doing what I've been doing the last few games."

Meanwhile, Carolina is not expected to make any lineup changes for Game 7. Anton Babchuk returned to the lineup on Sunday after being a healthy scratch in Game 5 and was a plus-1 in 19:19 of ice time.

"Probably the same bodies ... unless one of you feels real good," Hurricanes coach Paul Maurice said.
