No Mercy News:Why Jericho Wasn't There

The Wrestling Observer reports that WWE chose not to bring Chris Jericho back at WWE No Mercy last night because they felt it was too soon. His return will likely be held off until the Cyber Sunday PPV in 3 weeks. RAW writer Brian Gewirtz was in favor of Jericho returning at No Mercy, but Vince was against the idea and obviously has the final say.

good idea if you think aoubt it, more people would have bought it if they knew jericho was gonna be there. cyber sunday will be a big success is jericho is there

I would've liked to see him introduced at No Mercy, even if he didn't wrestle. Then he could come out on Raw afterwards and maybe issue like an open challenge and then for Cyber Sunday have the fans "vote" on who he should face. But now, he won't get to have much build into a match if he does have one at Cyber Sunday.

I disagree... now that we know HBK was making his return the next day.. In fact, I woulnd't be surprised if that his why Jericho was held back. It would be stupid of WWE to blow its load all at once. HBK and Y2J would have been stealing each others thunder instead of getting the proper spotlight. Let HBK have the spotlight until Cyber Sunday, and then bring Y2J back then and let him have the spotlight.
