| Matt should have become an anti-authority figure back when he came back to feud with Edge. Vince had fired him for revealing the affair, it would have been perfect for Matt to come back with revenge intended for VKM too. I think it could have really been effective in elevating him up the card. Most wrestlers seem to benefit a lot from feuding with Vince.
But it's true, Matt doesn't need the WWE. He could do very well for himself in TNA - especially with his brother there. Jeff's presence would ensure he gets a decent push, although he'd be pushed regardless because he's really popular. It's amazing how he's managed to sustain such popularity despite being buried so much - most wrestlers would have lost fan support by now. It's testament to Matt's ability that he's remained over. | |

| I tend to think a lot of this is to further the TV angle and I am cool with that. Matt Hardy had his greatest singles success when he came after Edge, like you said, and it is a smart idea to try recreate that. Matt probably would do well for himself without WWE, but he has never tested the waters. His junkie brother already knew TNA would take him back and give him a huge push. | |
