TNA President Dixie Carter was a guest on the Live Audio Wrestling Internet radio show on Sunday night. Host John Pollock discussed TNA's current PPV formula of one event per month, Carter says she is not a fan of the monthly PPV format and she would like to see the formula shaken up.

Here's what she had to say:

"I'm not a big fan of monthly PPVs, quite honestly, but you have contracts that keep you held in and bound at times, we're definitely talking about trying to shake things up and do things differently in the future."

Despite the fact that TNA is a privately held company and their actual PPV buyrate figures are never officially released, the data that does get out indicates that TNA has never come close to breaking 100,000 buys for an event and change is needed.

Carter repeated her recent claims that changes are coming to TNA and that she would be addressing many of the elements of the product that have become stagnant or too formula.

Carter said:

"I work very, very closely [with the creative team]. I'm not going to profess to be a wrestling writer. I am good at challenging people. It's not just ratings, but other things as well, we've made a lot of changes internally to present the product more real and focusing on these young guys."

I think it could be potentially a good move by TNA to change its formula to maybe cut to let's say 6 or 8 PPVs a year. Stories would definitely get a better build-up and you'd be able to use your talent more properly, with hopes that you could use most of your talent on your sets of tapings.

Call me optimistic but I'm starting to think with the more recent news relating to Dixie Carter that she knows that the PPV buyrates suck so bad and she needs to do anything to entice more viewers to buy her PPVs. Of course, the first plan would be to drop the whole Main Event Mafia angle since Kurt Angle, despite being your #1 guy, is creating more drama than positive in the locker room and the promotion needs to be built around your originals and the talent that will carry TNA in the future. That doesn't mean to get rid of the veterans but make sure that they know that what they're doing is for the best of TNA.

It could make Impact better because they could have PPV quality matches, but it did not work out so well for the WWE, when they went with seperate brand PPV's. I know that is not exactly the same thing, but it is semilar.

Yeah but we're not talking about brand extensions here. We're only talking about trimming the PPV schedule, so it's not that similar because that doesn't imply that we'll always see the same group of people working together all the time.

Here is how I feel that it could be similar. SD had the WWE Championship back then and there were times where there was not a a WWE title defense for more then a month. If TNA was to take away PPV events and add PPV quality matches to Impact, then it would work just fine.
