Stone Temple Pilots To Complete New Album After Tour
artist: stone temple pilots date: 10/28/2009 category: upcoming releases

Stone Temple Pilots spent the last few months working on a new studio album with producer Don Was. The band currently has tour dates through the beginning of 2010, after which the group is expected to resume recording the CD for a tentative spring/summer release.

"When we get back, we're going to finish the album," singer Scott Weiland tells Spinner.com. "And then when we finish the album, there will be a big tour around its release and that will probably be a long tour."

The upcoming release of Pilots' sixth studio album and first since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da" has been complicated by a contractual dispute between Weiland, drummer Eric Kretz and STP's label, Atlantic Records.

Stone Temple Pilots were reactivated in 2008 after a six-year layoff, during which time Weiland recorded two albums with Velvet Revolver before being dismissed in April 2008.

Weiland issued a second solo effort, called "Happy In Galoshes", last November and has been touring on his own behind that release.

Maybe if they had a video of it and it featured Teagan Presley's ass...then I might've been into it.

They did come from the early-mid 90s, but saying they came from the grunge thing is kind of unfair. Scott Wieland is a much more versatile vocalist than Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder or Kurt Cobain ever were. Plus grunge was more of a Seattle thing than anything.

But to get to the point of the thread, STP is one of my all-time favorite bands. I saw them in concert on my birthday in July and they were fucking amazing. True, their music before they broke up the first time wasn't all that great, but I'll still give the new album a listen, because I love the band.

And if they come back around here, I'll be back at their concert. They put on an AMAZING show.

Ugh. Pearl Jam are dreadful. Ten was a decent album, but it's been far too pretentious for my taste ever since.

I know and I have had to hear that stuff from Ten since I was in the 8th grade. Enough of Jeremy already.
