Shane McMahon & WWE Officially Part Ways

After announcing resignation plans on October 16, 2009, Shane McMahon is no longer employed to World Wrestling Entertainment. He said his official resignation date would be January 1, 2010.

According to the company's latest SEC filings, McMahon still owns 43,449 shares of WWE stock. On December 17, he cashed in 60,000 shares to receive $897,000 in gross proceeds. However, he also exercised stock options to acquire 60,000 shares priced between $12.94 and $13.45 per share.

Everyone knew this was coming, I don't think it will change the product at all. It will be interesting to see if Shane can succed in another business.

Yeah, not really big news here. Only thing that interests me is the very random number of shares he owns...how did he end up with 43,449. Not 43,000. Not 44,000. 43,449.

When it comes to investing, they do it off a set value rather than a set amount of shares.

So rather than paying 9,000,892 for shares they break up the smaller figure.

Plus with the amount of time that Shane has been with the WWE, they would have offered him bonus shares, so random share figures are normal.[/accounting knowledge]

I believe he wanted to promote MMA or something. I don't know if that's still the case though.

It's not being clear why he really left WWE. As mentioned pretty much everywhere, Shane McMahon never hid his interest for MMA, whether it's a partnership with UFC or creating his own promotion. There's also the possibility that Shane left the company to support his mother Linda's bid for senator of Connecticut, but nothing has been confirmed there.

So, basically, only Shane knows why he left. And for this to upset Vince McMahon, something must have happened that we don't know about.
