New WWE Champion at Mania ... You are joking right?

- Multiple WWE sources are reporting that Vince McMahon has decided to go a different direction with the Bret Hart storyline and WrestleMania. Believe it or not, the plan as of this weekend was for Bret to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania.
The plan as of Sunday morning was to have either Batista or John Cena walk out of Elimination Chamber with the WWE Title, which obviously Batista won. This should lead to Bret Hart & John Cena vs. Vince McMahon & Batista at WrestleMania with the person who gets the winning pinfall will be new WWE Champion.
The angle has been described as something that would be a “feel-good title win” for Bret. A likely ending for the match would be for Bret to make Vince tapout with the Sharpshooter but that’s nothing confirmed.
Vince has gone back and forth on where they’re headed with Bret for WrestleMania a few times over the past month but as of this weekend, this was the plan

But this won't happen. I fucking hope not anyway. Would be totally pointless, people want to see Vince in the sharp shooter. That is seriously it, there is no need for Bret to win a title along with it. Especially not in the shape he's in. Really doubt it will happen anyway but if it does, I'll go on record saying that it's stupid.

It would be pretty awesome, but how long does a "supposedly" broken leg heel in like 7 weeks ?, also now that this has leaked wonder if it will go ahead or not.

I hate the way Bret's WWE career ended and I don't care who is to blame anymore. It has been over 12 years, so who really screwed who doesn't matter anymore. That is great stuff for this storyline, but, in truth, it doesn't matter anymore. It would be an amazing WM moment to see Bret standing tall with the WWE Championship one last time, but what would happen to the title after Mania? I doubt Bret will be around after Mania.

The Way i See it if this dose go down maybe bret would return maybe not but if he did Ratings would rise like a mother Fucker.

The way I see it the title gets vacated after Mania if he wins. If that's the case, I don't see a problem with it. Harts career (WWE-wise) ended with him being screwed out of the title while using his move. So him winning the title would be a perfect book ending for his career. I wouldn't also mind seeing a tournament for the title afterwards. Really, not that bad of a move. My only problem, and it's a big one, is that the WWE title is reverting back to a hot potoato. If this happens it'll be about, four title changes in three months, which isn't good.

The WWE titles goes through stages like that. In 2002, the WWE/Undisputed Title went from Jericho(3months), to HHH(1month), to Hogan(1month), to Taker(1month), to Rock(1month) to Brock(2months), to Show(1month)to Angle(3months). Angles ran from Dec 02 to March 03.

That is true. It was the same pretty much in 2003 to be honest. Then we had JBL and Cena hold it for a looooong time.

HHH held the WHC for most of 03, but the WWE title was passed around a bit. It was mostly passed around through Brock and Kurt though. Kurt had it going into Mania, Brock won at Mania, Kurt won it back at Vengence, Brock won it back in a great Iron Man match, on SD, but from that point on, Brock held onto it until he lost to Eddie, in Feb 04. I feel he only lost it because he was leaving WWE. If he were staying, I think Lesnar vs. Goldberg, at WM 20, would have been a WWE Championship match, but that is for another thread. I would hope that whoever wins it after Bret, keeps it for at least 3or 4 months. Even if that somebody happens to be Cena.

^^I would rather see someone have the WWE Championship, but I don't hate Cena. Matter of fact, I think he has gotten better and better. I think his promos are great. He brings intinctiy and passion to everyone of them. Not seens Austin has anyone poured as much emotion into their promos.

The problem with Cena for me is that his promos show inconsistencies. Sometimes, he goofs off to get cheap pop and other times, he's dead serious, pours his heart out and yes, you get involved in the promo but in the end, you're expecting the same thing to happen the next week and he's back to the goofy Cena. Triple H used to have the same problem during the short time he was a babyface after returning from his quad injury in 2002. I can understand that promos need to have a different feel sometimes but still, this mustn't affect the general feel of the character. I don't see Santino Marella doing anything serious and it wouldn't fit his character because by definition, he's a goofball and a comedy character.

As for who wins the WWE Championship, the only way I could possibly justify Bret Hart winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania would be for the April PPV to have a tournament to crown a new champion (at least the finals). I don't necessarily think that it's necessary for Bret to win the title to have a "feel-good ending". The fans will be hot enough when Vince will tap to the Sharpshooter. Personally, I would stick with the previous plans that called for Triple H to beat Sheamus for the title at Mania instead. It's been a little while since Triple H had the title so I don't mind to this stage for him to have a short run with it.

If Bret makes Vince tap out, there will be no need for the WWE Championship and if you saw what happened between Batista and Cena on Raw, you would know this is very unlikely. After Batista's brutal attack, this thing will be one on one.

Hey, even Austin had some funny promos and then he would turn serious when it got serious.

Hmm, I don't think this should happen. Everyone loves Bret, but making him the champ would just be stupid. What's he gonna do once he wins it? It's not like he's gonna be wrestling every week... they should just stick to him fighting Vince or w/e.

It sure gets my vote as the dumbest idea of all time. Maybe he'll win it and the money in the bank winner will take it in the same night
