WWE creative team members Brian Gewirtz and Ed Kosky took part in the WWE/Mattel panel at the Comic Con event in San Diego. Gewirtz, the Raw lead writer, noted that the writing process has changed significantly since 1999. "It's changed a lot since back then," Gewirtz said. "Back then, we would fax our ideas to Vince McMahon and then hang out for a week and then check to see if any of them got used on the show."

Gewirtz described how the process works today. "Friday, we pitch all our ideas to Vince," he said. "It's our big 'Vince meeting' day. Saturday we put the show together and then Sunday we're usually traveling. Then we take some time to run the ideas by the talent."
