Hey guys, and now, we take a look @ a Championship that is short-lived and not only that, it was used mostly during the Attitude Era and the short-lived Invasion Era:
The WWE Light Heavyweight ChampionshipWhile WCW had the Cruiserweight Championship as well as the Cruiserweight Division and the Lucha Libre and the Mexican Luchadors WWE had the Light-Heavyweight Division something that WCW also had during the Early 90's!
Not to be confused with the WWF/UWF Light-Heavyweight Title that was fought over in Mexico, The WWE Light-Heavyweight Championship was held by 11 Men and it had changed hands 13 times!
The title deubt on December 7, 1997 @ the WWE In Your House PPV: Degeneration X
and on that night, Taka Michinoku won a Tournament and was crowned the 1st ever WWE Light-Heavyweight Champion!
The longest running Champion was Duane Gill better known as Gillberg who was also the 1st Light-Heavyweight Champion on SD!
He held the title for a record of nearly 15 months!
The WWE Light-Heavyweight Championship was also the 1st Championship held by Christian Cage who won the title from Taka Michinoku in his very 1st match @ the In Your House PPV: Judgment Day back on October 10, 1998!
and it was also the only WWE Championship held by Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Jerry Lynn!
It was the 1st Singles Title held by Scotty 2 Hotti of Too Cool!
There were other who have held the title as well:
The likes of Tajiri, Essa Rios and the late Crash Holly!
There were only 2 men who have held the title Twice
and that was X-Pac and The Man of 1000 Holds Dean Malenko!
Plus, it was also one of the Championships held by The High Flyer and The Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy!
and with Lita by his side, she managed to lead Jeff Hardy into winning the Light-Heavyweight Championship!
However, after the end of the Invasion Era, the Light-Heavyweight Championship was retired and X-Pac was the last man to hold the Championship!
The Light-Heavyweight Championship was soon replaced by the WWE Cruiserweight Championship!
The Light-Heavyweight Championship may be gone, but the tradition and the spirit of the Light-Heavyweight Championship still lives!
