| Actually, I've read that Val Venis was released. No mention of Kevin Thorn being released.
By the way, referee Jim Korderas was also released.

| Over the last several days WWE has been releasing wrestlers, referees, agents & office staff. We've announced quite a few of the releases here in bits and pieces as have others. Info on the releases from the WWE offices have not been as easy to get, although I've been told there were surprising names, many in fairly high positions in the company, some who had been with WWE for quite a while......oh and some of Vince's Limo Drivers, according to some reports.
Here's a list of everybody I am aware that was released. WWE.com has only announced three releases (D Lo Brown, Val Venus & Bam Neeley). The website was updated and profiles for them and the referees are already gone.
Referees & agents
Keenan Quinn Mike Posey Jimmy Korderas Tim White Barry Windham (released earlier than others)
Wrestlers
Bam Neeley (Justin La Roche) D Lo Brown (AC Conner) Val Venus (Sean Morley) Kevin Thorn (Kevin Fertig) Gavin Spears (Ronnie Arniell) Mike Kreul (Mike Mayo)
For now...........

| What was the point of bringing back D'Lo if they're just going to release him straight after? | |

Because when they brought him back there wasnt a credit crunch and they had money to piss away.

| I think it was another case of "Stephanie wants to see this guy back and Daddy accepted". When they realized it would amount to nothing, the expected happened and D'Lo will probably go back to All-Japan or perhaps return work for TNA as a road agent. | |

Because when they brought him back there wasnt a credit crunch and they had money to piss away. you think they are sacking people because of the crunch? how many millions does the company make no point in paying people you dont use though, plus more space for the new aquisitions, and there has been many of them.

no point in paying people you dont use though, plus more space for the new aquisitions, and there has been many of them. Linda McMahon , WWE CEO said herself that the company would be cutting back on spending money. They spend money paying the wrestlers , so that really further backs up my point of them being fired because of the crunch. When have you ever seen so many wrestler fired before ??? And there just happens to be a economic crisis happening. You connect the dots.

| There goes "The Fence". I never saw anything in Neely. He was able to garner a bit of interest when they teased a split from Chavo, but they never did much with him after.
It's really a shame to look back on Val Venis' career and realize he amounted to nothing. All that talent completely wasted and yet WWE puts so much stock into guys like Ricky Ortiz.

| ^^Not to mention he had a gimmick that actually got over with fans too. He was charismatic, could work with damn near anyone, and had the gimmick that got him over. There was no reason for him not to get a solid push and make him something more than a jobber most of his career. | |

| The only one of those names that surprises me was Val Venis because I always thought that since he was well-appreciated by the McMahons backstage and that he had survived a plethora of massive releases over the years, that maybe they were grooming him with an office job in Stamford or at least, taking care of the developmental system. Now, it seems that it'll probably be Tommy Dreamer's job once he retires from in-ring competition.
Really sucks for Val though. Awesome wrestler.
