- SmackDown wrestler Jeff Hardy has handed in his notice to World Wrestling Entertainment.
For the past two weeks, company officials have tried signing him to a one-year extension on his current deal, but he's turned them down. Hardy reportedly has two to four months left on his contract and they are trying desperately to lock him in.
Hardy wants to look at his options outside of wrestling and just take some time off to find his head. He is said to be very burned out from the strenuous travel of WWE.
As a result of all this, WWE has started booking his brother Matt much stronger than him and rushing through their current program. If Jeff doesn't sign on, look for Matt to shoot up to the next level.

| And another potential new main eventer down the drain...
When is WWE finally going to pull the trigger on a guy the way they did Cena back in 2005?

| Thank god! Glad to see that Jeff might go (heard his contract expires in July). Although, this isn't the best news for WWE. Considering how much Jeff sells but, I assume it isn't as good as Cena and I think giving the oppurtunity Matt could fill Jeff's spot. Kind of sad seeing as Matt's push is pretty much due to Jeff's leaving. Not sure why people seem to point the blame on WWE, it's not their fault if Jeff wants to take time off and look into other paths. I doubt if Jeff was pushed like Cena, his decision would've changed, he'd be more burned out in fact. This one the blame isn't on WWE, unless you're going to go and say that it's their fault for the schedule but, thats just part of being with WWE. | |

According to Dave Meltzer, Jeff Hardy nearly surpassed Cena in merchandise sales last year. Doing that well and being given a 1 month reign is an insult. If they don't have faith in Hardy because of his screw-ups, that's totally fine, but in that case they shouldn't have pushed him to begin with. If the company showed faith enough in Hardy to let him headline Wrestlemania, I'm sure he wouldn't leave. Who in their right mind leaves at the peak of their career?

| At least Matt's going to get pushed now. I mean, yes, it is lame that he will only get pushed due to the fact that Hardy's leaving, but still, a push is a push. | |

Jeff Hardy, one of the top babyface acts in World Wrestling Entertainment, might be on his way out of the company in the coming months.
Hardy's contract expires this summer and WWE has been pushing hard to sign him to a new deal . So far, Jeff Hardy has turned down several lucrative offers from the company - including a new long-term deal and a 1-year contract extension.
Much of the Matt vs. Jeff storyline has been dictated by Jeff's current contract negotiations. With Jeff likely on his way out of the company, WWE is booking Matt to come out of the feud looking strong.
Jeff Hardy is said to be interested in getting away from the hectic lifestyle of a pro wrestler and wants to spend some time living on his own terms. I was kind of pissed when Hardy came back from suspension and got his push back. I really won't miss Hardy at all.

| I gotta say I am quite happy at this news, I don't like Hardy at all and don't believe that he has even passable in ring skills. I know a lot of WWE wrestlers are the same and I won't defend them either, Hardy is entertaining in some respects he can get the teenage girls going crazy but when he starts to talk it gets ugly. I understand why WWE didn't want to give him much of a title reign and I also understand why they wanted to push him because it would be quite stupid to ignore someone who is such a fan favourite. But on the same token, this guy has screwed up a lot in the past so why give him a long title reign? I guess WWE gave him the reign to begin with to show that they are grateful for the money he has pumped into WWE but they aren't willing to put a lot of stock into someone who has a bad history for being reliable. On a business stand point it isnt good for WWE, but for me personally it is good. | |

| I'm going to venture to guess that Jeff is leaving because he wants to do drugs again...just a thought.
Could he possibly be the "second" World Champion TNA promised? I doubt it, but if he is it could boost fan support for TNA.

Am I the only one who thinks he might quit because he know it will help his brother. Plus he's got a lot he can do like music and motorcross. I'm deciding not to look at it from a wrestling perspective and just look at the big picture. I mean the guy won the World Championship maybe he wants to just take a step back and just be proud of what he did, and let his brother get a shot at it.

| ^ I suppose that's possible. If nothing else, it's a nice benefit for someone who could use the opportunity to be in the spotlight.
It makes perfect sense for WWE to want to hold on to Jeff, but if he feels burned out he should in no way resign with them. It's better for everyone involved that he take care of himself and not fall back into self-destructive behavior. He may bring in a lot of money, but WWE has not (to my knowledge) built him up to the level of Cena, Orton, HHH and the like. He'll be missed, but someone else will take his place.

| So I am the only guy who has found it weird that in 2006 when Christian jumped to TNA, Jeff left TNA. Then he went to WWE, Then Christian comes back to WWE and Jeff is all of a sudden leaving.
Sure it most likely a coincidence but there is a possibility Jeff cannot stand Christian.
Anyway, Jeff for TNA anyone?

Anyway, Jeff for TNA anyone? No, its not at all possible. Christian went to TNA in 05 by the way. And Hardy left halfway through 06, which would prompt his return to the WWE. They had a good 6 months together before they even split ways. Besides, Jeff has no reason to have heat with Jason. I mean think about it, Matt Hardy and Edge should have more heat then Jeff and Christian. And I still say he's leaving because he wants to smoke pot again. Which is perfectly fine by me. That's who Jeff is, he's proved it time and time again, so why should he change it now?

If the company showed faith enough in Hardy to let him headline Wrestlemania, I'm sure he wouldn't leave. Who in their right mind leaves at the peak of their career? Jeff Hardy is burned out from the travel of WWE, and from what I understand Jeff was happy about his spot in Mania. In fact him and Matt even expected to steal the show (giving the time needed). Also, didn't Lesnar leave WWE one month after his most succesful WWE Championship reign (might not be right about that). I understand their was a lot more reasons but, I believe travel was one of them. Going back to Jeff being burned out, that could mean he is not in his right mind. What STL (getting out to smoke pot) and SOL (to help his brother and look back on what he accomplished with pride) said in my opinion are both possible. Also Sykesy, I read that Jeff has no interest in signing with another promotion, so I don't expect Jeff to be going to TNA. I actually think he is just brunt out and wants to do something else, probably something that SOL said like motorcross.

| There can certainly be many factors to his wanting to leave. After having experienced a break from WWE in the past, he's not so tight in that wrestling bubble like Cena, HHH, and those guys are. So it's a lot easier for him to leave. I still think if he had been given the ball to run with he'd have been a big success and wouldn't be in a position right now to get away. | |
