OVW: Ive heard of it but never known, WHATS OVW!?

My dad got accepted for the wwe but he sed he dropped out and he sed that he was had to go to OVW to get 5-6 yrs pro wrestling exp 1st, and ive seen it mentioned around this forum is it like a training ground or something?
