WrestleMania 24 PPV Numbers Are In, Vince Disappointed

The PPV numbers are in for WrestleMania 24, and they are considerably lower than WWE and Floyd Mayweather expected. WrestleMania 24 drew 1,058,000 buys which works out to $23.8 million. This is less than last year’s 1,200,000 buys and $24.4 million for WrestleMania 23. The numbers were released this morning with WWE’s first quarter earnings report, which had the company listed as pulling in $19.5 million in net earnings over the first quarter of 2008.

Vince McMahon was targeting 1.4 million buys for WrestleMania 24, and this number is viewed as a disappointment for WWE. Floyd Mayweather publicly predicted the number would beat out WrestleMania 23, which featured Donald Trump. Nonetheless, $19.5 million is a pretty decent first quarter figure.

Even if it is down, it still puts WWE waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of TNA! However, it does show that fans are begining to get sick of the od storylines of the WWE. However, it could also be viewed that with the Hair vs Hair match prompted the buys and therefore celebrity appearances are the way to go - I hope not, but it could well be viewed that way.

A million buys is pretty damn good and of course Vince wants to do better because it is his company. What is the most buys a TNA PPV has ever pulled? I know it isn't a million.

A lot less, but I believe that is mainly due to its crappy marketing.

Whatever the oppisite of being a mark is, that is my feelings on Booker T, so admit that I have a bias to acompany that statement..I can admit my bias, there is someone else who post's here that should give that a try.
