Shawn Michaels has been spotted backstage at WWE events recently favoring his knees and walking around more carefully than in the past. His knees have been described as being in really bad shape right now and the speculation is that he may need even more of a schedule break, if not a good period of time away pretty soon. Michaels made a radio appearance on Q101 in Chicago saying it is possible that after next year's WrestleMania that he would take some time off from WWE since his contract would be expiring and wants to spend more time with his family. Whether or not he will take time off after WrestleMania or continue his normal full-time schedule remains to be seen. It should be noted that in regards to his match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25, Michaels was very hands-on with the creative aspect of the storyline much like he was during the Chris Jericho feud.

Also note that while Michaels would likely still wrestle after next years 'Mania on a very reduced schedule, he is looking to stop wrestling full-time next year and wants to spend more time with his sons as they grow up.

I can easily see him wrestling Taker's schedule a year or 2 back when he was making appearances without actually wrestling much between PPVs.

Well that's understandable. He's done so much in the business, there's not really a lot for him to do and he needs to think of his health and family first.

Exactly, I agree with TRF. He has done alot of the business and will probably become a Legend.

He already is a legend. Shawn Michaels is beast, one of the top five of all-time in my eyes.

This news is definitely not a surprise and it's probably for the best. He is already in his 40s and it's natural for him to be slowing down. It's a shame that his health isn't perfect, but that's one of the prices of being in the business I suppose. Good for him for wanting to spend more time with his family and prolong his years with them.

I agree with most of you guys, I've seen this coming for a while now, and it's understandable that he wants to spend some time with his family.

It's also good to see that he realises he isn't going to be able to wrestle for forever. He knows that he's had some pretty serious injuries, and it's nice to know that he isn't stupid enough to push himself until he rehurts himself.

It'll be a hell of a loss for WWE though. They'll lose one of their best wrestlers ever.

Within 3 years he will be in the HOF ...

He will not become a legend, He is a Legend. An Icon and of course the Showstopper.

HBK could end up in the HOF the year he leaves wrestling, just like Flair
