M-1 Global has revealed some huge news today that WAMMA Heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko plans to retire from mixed martial arts following his next two fights with Strikeforce to pursue a career in Russian politics.
In a press release, translated by MiddleEasy.com:
“The regional political council of the party “United Russia” approved the list of candidates for internal party elections – the primaries. In the list of 58 candidates. No less than 10 000 United Russia vote will determine the best, and who will receive the first place in the party list in the upcoming October elections in the Belgorod Regional Duma.”

| Meh, don't really see it happening. Fedor needs a loss on his record to get his fire lit again, so I'm looking forward to either Werdum or Overeem beating him. If they do, he'll probably re-sign with Strikeforce or move into the UFC. | |
