A Light Heavyweight fight between former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz and Matt Hamill is close to being finalized for UFC 121 on October 23 in Anaheim, California.
A source close to the fight revealed the news to MMAFighting.com today, with UFC President, Dana White confirming the news shortly after.
Ortiz has not fought inside the octagon since last November at UFC 106 when he lost a three round decision to Forrest Griffin. He pulled out of his fight with Chuck Liddell at UFC 115 due to neck surgery and having a little trouble with the law when he was arrested for allegedly hitting his wife, Jenna Jameson.
Hamill is on a four fight winning streak inside the octagon with wins over Mark Munoz and Jon Jones, who he beat by disqualification. His last fight was at the "Ultimate Fighter" season eleven finale when he defeated Keith Jardine via decision. | |

| Meh...there were many more marketable fighters to throw at Tito. Hamill isn't one of them. | |

| I think they want Tito to win, so they are going low profile. If Tito wins, he is back. If he loses, the whole ordeal fades away quickly. | |

| Even someone like Chuck, who could in ways be an easy opponent if he gets tagged on the chin, would obviously be a larger draw. But Dana doesn't want to make money off of Chuck anymore...so...yeah... | |

| At this point in time, I think if Chuck ever fought, none of his fights would go to a decision. His chin won't last him 15 minutes. He needs to knock his opponent out or he's going down. | |

| When I said "he will lose a decision", I was talking about Tito. There are guys that Chuck can still beat, but it would be some first time in the cage fodor. Maybe it is because I really want to see Tito lose to everyone, I think Chuck would still beat him and so will Hamel. | |

| ^^Yeah, I know you were talking about Tito. I was saying, Chuck's chin wouldn't let him last 15 minutes. Sometime within those 15 minutes, Tito has to land a punch and it'd probably knock him out. | |

| Ehhh, if it's really any better, it's only marginally. He's probably got a little better point striking, but he it's only real effectiveness is to set up takedowns. | |
